Re: The Breakup (Miata build)
Actually, we included the 1 5/8 tubing spec. because it is quite common in DRAG RACE cages. Best guess is that this was done because a lot of (good, OLD) tube bending equipment has dies for (nominal) pipe sizes, which are different than tubing sizes. The only one that's close is 15/8" (1.625) t...

How to lose your house- and perhaps your mind
So, we've known since February that we have to sell the house. We had a plan of sorts and I got a little disability settlement - but then real estate people got involved. Whose little passive - aggressive sidestep this week has me talking to lawyers, and is making our situation look pretty bl...

Dayum! Problems of my own - some detailed seperately. But that's a rough spring cleaning, for sure - although development of veggie asphalt may be worth a bit.

Walter - After I had a triple diskectomy in 1991- the surgeon told me there were 3 things I should'nt do = Drive a truck for a living. Skydive. Household moving. And we hit the domestic "wall o'stuff" a while ago. It's why I'm looking for some young, resilient folks to help out - the R/E p...

We be movin`! Magazines, furniture, parts, house
OK - Though things are looking up a bit, we've heard from the morgatge holders, their lawyers, the health officer, the real estate ladies - and we've gotta move! We'll be relocating to the Charlestown, NH area - Close to Mom, homefolks, etc. We did'nt exactly plan this... So, we have an excess of st...

Re: Sources for cage steel?
Good to know that they have the cold drawn material now. Did'nt list it as of a couple months ago, but I'm not surprised, either. The delivery I'm used to getting from them, it took 5 of us to heft 1 piece off the truck, and we were making big mill rolls. After we walked on top of 'em for 2 weeks, t...

Re: Main hoop foot location
I think you are generally on the right track. If you were to plate over the top and down the side of the inner rocker, using ~ 11-14 ga, hammer-bent and perimeter welded - then holesaw into that, to form your socket. the holesaw breaking out to the inside could work to your advantage, as in Joey's s...

Re: My '86 GTI build
Very nice! Always good to see real steel structure to mount the seat - particularly with the "FIA style" seats, which cantilever the backrest support to the floor mounts. And these of us on the "big galoot" side of the height distribution curve make for a long lever... 8-) We've ...
