Re: Burke June 2013 picture and video thread

I think your right about being careful how closely you take advice from people, both because of difference in cars and also people. I feel like I know Burke and Okemo well, but if you asked me a question about turn 11 (random number) I would probably just stare blankly, because I couldn't tell you w...

Re: Insuring a hill climb car for the street

Assuming you are just thinking of getting liability and not comprehensive coverage, I would think an insurance company would have a hard time denying a claim because of a roll-cage etc? Dropping you after a claim I can see though. If your worried about it, maybe insure the Miata with a separate comp...

Re: My '86 GTI build

I thought the car looked great last year with the new updates, the new interior layout really compliments the exterior nicely. Looking forward to seeing it at the hills! Good to hear the megasquirt is functioning well and your work with it is paying off. I've been following your updates on it, and w...

Thanks,

Re: Anyone for tarmac rally?

I really enjoyed the event. The roads were a lot of fun, and had a bit of everything, fast straights, flowing sections and a few tighter technical parts. The road conditions were also nice, very smooth pavement without much crown. I think any hiilclimb car would be fine. The transits were also easy ...

Re: The Tap Dance, or The Secret Life of Drills

Some good information John, thanks for posting. Those transfer punches look very useful, I'll have to check those out. I have had really nice results from these dewalt "pilot point" drill bits. http://www.dewalt.com/tools/drilling-accessories-metal--wood-drilling-general-purpose-pilot-poin...

Re: Car eligible for SP?

Another option would be to just get a 2.5 lb ABC extinguisher, ~20 bucks at a hardware store for a basic Kidde one. The all metal kidde brackets can be had with one strap for a few dollars. When I did mine I wanted two straps so I bought two brackets and took the strap off one and riveted it on the ...

Re: Veteran team to assist a newbie

I would agree with that it might be a good idea to look into going down to a 15" wheel if you can. Both for gearing purposes, but also 15" tires are generally cheaper and easier to find since they are common in spec miata and other SCCA stuff. If you already have a bunch of 16" wheels...
