Re: Safety gear recomendations
Impact has been by far the most comfortable helmet I've ever owned. I've used a variety of gloves-didn't like any of them. I believe RaceQuip is the brand I have now. I like shoes with a bit more sole, so I can walk around at okemo in the parking lot without having to change them as soon as I get ou...

Re: New KSCC "wire"
Not sure how to make it happen just yet, but a mechanical tensioner like on a timing belt comes to mind... Some sort of arm with a light spring on it to keep tension. The margin for error in speed difference between the truck and the wire feeding would be smaller than with a big loop, but the arm wo...

SCCA RallySprint
NER SCCA is trying to host a RallySprint at the Club Motorsports track in Tamworth, NH. It is a 2.5 mile road course that has yet to be paved. The idea is that it will be covered in snow. Here's a video of Team O hitting the track in the fall: https://vimeo.com/146245320 The event is currently open ...

Re: Side Impact
I bought two FIA seats with the head bolsters for this year in case of a side impact. My off at okemo last year was pretty bad to the car, but was more backwards than sideways, so I got lucky, and my safety equipment didn't really have to do much.

And for what it's worth, their prices are already far below market price in the US, before the 20% off. Shipping was $50 for two seats

Re: Prelimiary Cage Design Question, Climb to Clouds book
Generally, the rules we use are minimum requirements. Anything more than required is also acceptable (in the case of gussets, tube diameter, etc.) FIA article 253 (http://www.fia.com/article-253-2015-safety-equipment-groups-n-and-rgt-published-13072015) is what NASA and Rally America rules are based...
