Thanks Walter. I will stick to DOM. The cost of normalizing does not justify the weight difference. I am starting my cage right now(1.75" x .095").

well, I heard back from Bodycote. $1750 to anneal the chassis...kindof what I expected.. too much. Looks like Ill be sticking to DOM mild steel this year. No moly yet.

So, I talked to Bodycote. They can do it. They have an oven that is 12'x7'x6'. The only problem is my car is 13' 6". I guess i could chop some off. or maybe build something to keep the chassis angled.. It all depends on their price...still waiting on a quote.

I do not know of anyone in particular, but it is the only right way to normalize a cromoly cage thoroughly..Rabbit Farmer wrote:Joey. Do you know of anyone else that has ever tried this? (not that it should prevent you from doing it)

who can anneal a chassis?
anybody know where i can get a chassis annealed? The oven needs to be able to reach temps of 1550* F.
