Re: VW Bug street rod - any hope to race?

Hello! Looks like and sounds like a blast! I don't see why you would have any problems. That thing would be a perfect fit! In my opinion the Best thing to do is start a build thread and post some, detailed, pictures of where it's at now and you areas of concern. Someone will chime in if they see som...

He must be Stoked!
What kind of engine are they running these days? Have they gone to OHV's or they still using the ol' 5HP Briggs L-heads?

Re: Restraints on a 50's vintage car.

Dude that'd be sweet! :D Man, I'd love to see/hear that!
I'd be interested to see what the Belair has to do too, I've been thinking of running Herman, 64 Benz 220b, at one of the hills for fun.
That has A/M Lap belts but originally had none, one of the reasons I haven't yet.

Re: 1973 VW Super-Beetle(1303) Hill-Climb Build

I like that, looks clean and simple. My fear was the edges of the cups that I made digging into my heel in the event of an accident. Common sense tells me to have NOTHING, or as close as I can get to nothing, that can cut me within reach. Like a stiff edge of steel... The way your Scirocco is set up...

Re: 1973 VW Super-Beetle(1303) Hill-Climb Build

I have to catch up, a lot, to where I'm at now from where I was. Winter of 2015. The first season with the car was great but I noticed I had to lift my feet up to reach the pad on the peddles. Not a lot, just an 1" or so, but it got annoying. I don't need to be footen around finding the peddles...

Re: 1973 VW Super-Beetle(1303) Hill-Climb Build

There are a couple of fast VW's down In Pa. http://www.pahillclimb.net Their forum is slow this time of year like ours-sign up + ask on there. Probably more sane info than from us front engine people. But first things first-you got to get it on some scales. Hard to know where you're going if you do...

Re: 1973 VW Super-Beetle(1303) Hill-Climb Build

One of the first things on the list is new stiffer springs. I started with Stock springs, well the front were new and 10% stiffer and claimed to be 65# springs, the rear bars are Original sagging 1973 units, have no idea what there rated at, indexed to give me the proper ride height. My tires are hi...

That's awesome! He's gonna Love it! I remember my first Kart. So much fun, nothing like being a kid with a go-cart. There's this too. Not sure if you know about it, you probably do, or how far it is from you. Just throwing it out there. http://www.vtshifterkarts.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: My '86 GTI build

Oh, that sucks.
Why they got to do crap like that? They just removed it! Bunch of BS....
I just finished mine, not even half the length or as old, and it took months!
