Re: My '86 GTI build
I started looking at some ways to reduce the amount of front tire exposed to the airstream, and hopefully gain some benefit of either lower drag or added downforce. I am going with a version of dive planes rather than end plates because the dive planes can just be added to what I have and are fairly...

AGM battery charger $50
Great for smaller (10-30AH) AGM batteries. I used this model for 8 seasons to keep up one Odyssey PC680, which has now been retired because the battery has simply worn down so the CCA isnt always sufficient to start the GTI unless it has been fully charged. This happens to all batteries, most notica...

Re: Front aero ??
The reason I brought this up is that I am looking at adding something to the front end, mostly to deflect air around 4" or so of front tire on each side that is exposed down toward the splitter due to the inward taper of the front fascia and the fact that I am running tires that are wider than ...

Re: Front aero ??
I would think they would have something in those two narrow channels to guide the air upwards instead allowing it to get packed into the back of a pocket.. You would think...I dont see anything, or a way out for the air except up. Maybe some sort of high pressure air bubble forms in there and that ...

Front aero ??
Can anyone explain the end plate design on this PPIC Peugeot? http://s3.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Peugeot-208-T16-Pikes-Peak-1.jpg I get how end plates work. What I cant conceive is how having the end plate merge with the front fascia is efficient. ?? I also found a less extreme ex...

Re: Rabbit Farmer's various VW Projects
Kind of cute calculator, but I had a problem with it at first. I entered all my values, but mis-typed the 5th gear ratio (omitted the decimal point). The page caught that as an out of range value. I corrected it and finished up, then hit auto shift to plot it. The speeds at max RPM it came up with w...

Re: Motorcycle Races?
We do permit motorcycles at the NEHA events hosted by the KSCC (Okemo and Burke) however the entrants need to go thru MAX BMW as they provide the rider screening and bike safety checks for motorcycles and riders.

Re: VW Bug street rod - any hope to race?
Welcome! Hillclimbing and in particular NEHA is a great place to run what you love. We can find a class for nearly any car, and what is more important - everyone has fun! Some do hillclimbs to beat everyone in a particular class, but most of us drive the car we love, try to do better each event, and...

After discussing the options with Don, we recommended the belt solution David suggested.
