Re: Howe Mod Heavy
Like Shem was saying the springs are probably on the week side and becoming unstable. Most likely Why the retainer failed. Don't forget to check the keepers and the valve stem!! Retainers and springs are cheap and easy to replace, head on engine in one night, and can be reused later when freshened u...

Re: Hey! I found a cylinder!
Good to hear! :D That's awesome, easy fix. ;) So basically sounds like you were freaking out the map sensor and ecu with the thumping full range vac. signal from only one cylinder at low engine speed. Makes sense. I did see that, but though it was the factory set up so I paid no mind. I'll speak up ...

Re: OKEMO for a Newby?
I hadn't realized the kill switch is required for breakout cars. I guess that's one more thing to add to the to-do list. Do we have an approved wiring diagram and/or any kind of certification required for them? I haven't looked at the rules since seeing this, just hoping for a quick answer. It's no...

Re: IMPORTANT BURKE INFO!!! Updated-6-4-15
There's a class-4 road, Beldin Hill Rd., that will lead you to the other side of the bridge right at the entrance to the Pub Out Back. If you zoom in on the map, I used Google maps, you'll see it. It takes you from 114 to Mt. Hunger Rd./Maple Ln. or the other way around. They cleared the road and it...

Re: My 1973 1303 I bought for a dollar
I'm sure you frequent air-cooled forums like Samba-and I bet someone has tried something similar if they felt the need. Our last fast beetle was run over 10 years ago. (RIP Charlie Rutan.) I personal think the fan would act like a big centerfuge + fling the water to the outside. You don't think it ...

To the future May 29 2015>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Boink! You've been there but not here. Well be back, later, at the present, to catch up with the past. So on the second to last run at Ascutney, on sunday, I noticed the oil was hotter then it'd had ever been. It wasn't even that hot really, 150-deg. Engine Ra...

Re: IMPORTANT BURKE INFO!!!
The map looks like that coming from the south we should be using Mt Hunger Rd to Maple Ln as the detour? What am I missing? I never travel those roads, don't have to, so I don't know what they look like. Never thought of that route but, personally, I'd still go the other way. Vermont roads always s...
