Re: 1973 VW Super-Beetle(1303) Hill-Climb Build
There are a couple of fast VW's down In Pa. www.pahillclimb.net Their forum is slow this time of year like ours-sign up + ask on there. Probably more sane info than from us front engine people. But first things first-you got to get it on some scales. Hard to know where you're going if you don't know...

Re: New KSCC "wire"
Thanks again for all your hard work Walter. I think that the inner core not moving around might help with some of our problems. The wire would tend to act loose as it was shucking + jiving around the moving core. As you can see, its a good thing I don't build race cars out of wood.

Re: New KSCC "wire"
The first two of the 3 small green reels went onto the new reel -they were propped up on 2 jackstands with a piece of tubing as an axle. Speed was limited by the diameter of the small reels. No kinks present- the line was always taught. At Okemo, they were laid down the normal way off the big reel. ...

Re: New KSCC "wire"
If we had the old wire with the new reel+ magic stick, we could have the wire up in a 1/2 hour. ;) The wire doesn't drag on the road the same. Its too light -the coating is slicker-and the memory from the steel wire keeps it curling. We have discussed a chain dragging on the road (thru a pulley i gu...

Re: Side Impact
The main pain with the hybrid is you have to put it on before you climb in the car. Once you're used to climbing in + out with it, its not a problem.
The Hybrid works fine with 3" belts-unsure about the Necks gen-but the Hans needs a 2" belt. (still legal-they make harnesses either way.)

Winter racing
One way to get my fix is racing online. Here is the last couple of laps of a race at Thunderhill. I'm in my beloved Datsun 510 #36.

Its all Dzus tabs. 40-50 total in the car-about 1/2 for the body. Maybe a minute + half? Depend how many I drop and how far they roll under the car.
