If I haven't said it before, I really appreciate the insight from you guys, it's a great ehlp in planning this thing out before I go getting in over my head.

Re: Thunder Roadster?

Tons of good info! I'll most like try to run an open diff at first and upgrade when I decide I'm ready/hungry for it. I've experienced some of the joys of the locked rear-end so I'm certainly not going to force one on myself. As for the tranny, how often are you seeing first gear on a hill climb? I ...

Re: Thunder Roadster?

Seems like I can find a 96 Troyer or Spafco for pretty reasonable money with newer front clips.

I know the speedway over in Claremont runs a spec modified and those guys have managed to piece together cars on the cheap except for the damn crate motor they have to run.

Hmmm, maybe I would be better off sticking to my original idea of converting a modified then. I know a guy that would be more than willing to mentor me in the changeover since he used to race modifieds all over New England, including road courses.

Plus nothing sounds like a V8.

Re: Thunder Roadster?

Awesome insight and exactly what I was looking for. I checked out the legends cars but was put off by the short wheelbase for track work. Would it be a good idea to switch out the rear-end entirely? I've seen a mini-stock Celica that ate rear ends like nobodies business. I'm sure I could source a Ni...

Re: Thunder Roadster?

I'm more concerned about reliability of the engine in these applications and if anybody has some insight.

V8 Modifieds I have experience in. I4 bike engined cars are new.

Thunder Roadster?

Seth Achilles pointed me in this direction, apparently some of you guys have experience with bike engined cars. I've been playing with the idea of an open wheel modified being converted for Autox and hillclimb use (I want to save my DC5 for daily driving duty) so I've been digging through circle tra...
