Fuel Altereds are what you get when you cross-breed an antelope and a rodeo bull - check out this half-track wheelie pass by the "Rat Trap"

Looks like he got the weight transfer just about perfect. Maybe leaving 5 more lbs on the front would be a good idea.

A longish burnout will consume that much more nitro, as schochiometric a/f with nitromethane is close to 1/1 (by weight), and nitro's specific gravity is close to 1.00 as well - so that a couple quarts = 4 lb, and the thing burns that in a sneeze.

Welcome to nitro, where the crazy becomes quite logical.....And the lunatic fringe reign supreme - you wern't under the impression that old Kalitta and Garlits were actuallly sane, were you?

I used to work with a nationally ranked bike hillclimber-those guys are their own breed. Up until recently, there were just 2 classes-700cc + open-every 700 was a BSA-all the opens were Harleys. All running on 100% nitro. (lid + label as the term goes-which I had read is a chemical impossibility.) The starting procedure is to pull the spark plugs-squirt some Roson lighter fliud down the holes + kick it over. Picture that going wrong! :o
Now I see the bikes are all powered by modern jap sport bike motors-still on nitro. I have no clue how they can make a motor that burns CH3NO2 still rev as hi as they do. I like the leave blowers giving the rider a blast of fresh air-getting a face full of nitro should be on everyones bucket list-but not before a trying to climb a hill! 8-)
Translating road racing to hillclimbing:
Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.

I was once in the pits at a dragway and standing next to a top fuel car that fired up, I can still feel that breath!

Does anyone else question the wisdom of putting ones reproductive organs above a 100% nitro fueled engine?

The mean-time-between-failures of high revving, nitro-fueled engines has to be measured seconds.
