So you basically could have a 1.5 mile course, with a separate road for bring down, they'd have to turn around at the bottom, but all within a gated area.
Looks fast.
Would the stone wall be a concern in terms of damage liability?

Thanks Smokey, Andrew was tickled pink to be in the magazine, and it makes me a proud papa.smokey15 wrote:Seth,
Did my graduate degrees at Assumption College in Worcester, MA. Passed by Mt. W. a number of times and, drove the road several times. It was quite rough back then (1967) but was challenging.
Also, just received my August issue of Grass Roots Motorsports issue and lo and behold, you and your son are featured on page 24 under the title, "Hot Builds". Congrads.

I missed it before, but it looks like the road is owned by the state. It's a Mass state reservation, so somewhat similar to Philo and Ascutney. I assumed it was managed by the ski resort.

HA, if Philo is our Slalom, Ascutney and Burke a Giant Slalom, Okemo the Super G, this would be our Downhill !@!

Seth,
I did some research and yes, Mt. Wachusett is a Massachusetts state park. It is leased from the state by the Crowley family for ski operations. David Crowley is one of the owners of the Wachusett ski area. It was suggested by a college friend who lives in Princeton and is family friends with the Crowleys that we should contact the park rangers/state rep. and David if we are interested in using the road.
Just thought I'd share a point of contact. Never driven up the summit road but I hiked it when I was at WPI. It would be awesome to get an event there!

Thanks Lincoln,
This a bit of putting the cart before the horse.
Lets say, they are open to the idea of allowing us to use the hill, and costs make sense with our budget.
A-Would you run this hill?
B-In a perfect world, we have 7 climbs on our schedule. Ascutney 1, in May, Burke 1 in June, Okemo 1 in July, Okemo 2 and Burke 2 in August, Ascutney 2 in September and Philo in October. Where do you see this event fitting in?
C-If there is no camping on site, would that prevent you from attending?

As far as a date, my guess is they would rather we do it while the road is closed for the season. Late(ish) fall or early(ish) spring
