Re: NEHA: 2013 Season Rules
Am I correct in assuming the same 2 strikes breakout rule that applies for cages will also apply for Head and neck restraints? I.E. If I breakout with a cage but without a neck restraint I can still run as long as I am over the breakout time the rest of the day.

That would probably be up to tech. Walter might speak to that. I know in the past when we have a cage that comes in that doesn't meet our rules we have still let the person run but they were subject to the breakout rule. So we might do the same thing is someone if missing a required head and neck restraint.

Re: NEHA: 2013 Season Rules
While I am officially a classification committee member, and not a technical committee member I would agree that an event organizer should enforce the H&NR rule in the same way the cage rule is enforced relative to breakout. And as part of tech, a driver with a caged car but without an H&NR should be subject to the breakout rule.

Re: NEHA: 2013 Season Rules
OK that's good info. I just wanted to make sure that if I get to the first event and haven't gotten a H&NR that I will still be able to run as long as I'm slow.

I hope to not need a Hans, just wear one. But then again nobody plans on putting it in the bushes. And being alive is worth the 600 bucks.

Re: NEHA: 2013 Season Rules
The one time mine would have been really good to be wearing, it was actually sitting in a FedEx box at my house instead of around my neck thanks to a screw-up at Hans.
I went to HMS motorsports to buy a new helmet and Hans about a week before a fall Ascutney a few years ago. They had the helmet I wanted in stock but not the right size Hans as they had just returned from an SCCA race and apparently sold all in my size they had in stock. So they called Hans and had one FedEx next day shipped to my house. Fine, but someone at Hans decided to save a couple bucks and shipped FedEx Economy. So it arrived on that Saturday at my house 3 hours from where I was at Ascutney. I rolled my cat that weekend. Luckily (if there is such a thing wher going off road and rolling is concerned) I didnt hit a large tree head on at any speed. Instead I hit a bunch of rocks and stumps with glancing blows to places like the wheels, doors, hood and roof, then was stopped gradually by a cluster of saplings.
Now my Hans is like an AmEx card...I dont leave home without it.
