What if you want to camp (with trailer attached to camper) in the parking lot beyond the campground? Can you drive the race car from there to the start line? If not, where do I put the race car and/or work on it if needed? Am I asking enough questions?

Thanks,

Drew

Officially, if it isnt street legal it needs to be dropped off in the campgrounds and not driven between that lot and the campgrounds since it is a public (albeit dirt) road. I am sure there are some campsites that arent overrun with cars, just not sure at the moment whose...

Unofficially, a lot of us make the drive between the campground and lot with unregistered cars at least a couple times a weekend, and I seem to recall at least one or 2 who do what you are planning and just drive back and forth as little and as discretely as possible. I think that if we dont make asses of ourselves on the little stretch of dirt, no one will take much notice.

I think the unofficial rule is that if you drive to or from the upper lot the car should at least look like a car that might be street legal. I camped in the upper lot for many years and every time I first dropped the modified off in the campground. There is just no way I can pretend it is a street car. I once came around the corner at Okemo in first gear and scared a family of hikers so badly that the mother wouldn't stop screaming at me after I shut off the car. She kept yelling there was no way it could be legal for me to drive that car on the Okemo road. We had to have the police come and escort them away. So I don't think driving on the street is much in my future.

There also used to be a guy who lived on the road who really hated us. I don't think he is there anymore but it still only takes one person to cause a problem.

As for race car parking space in the campground. That is a trick at times. I've resorted in the past to walking around the campground and just looking for some space where I could fit the car. We had an event at Burke with more than 75 entrants once and we somehow managed to fit all the cars so it can be done.

I hear the chair is a real slave driver about keeping the line moving + the run groups staged up. ;) So i woud suggest that you do find a parking spot during the day between runs. Other than that, I'd say fine.

Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.

Drew,

Confirm, the chair is a slave driver (ha, ha)!!!
You can park your car at my lean-to, where I used to park mine.

run me out of diesel and you know we had the most runs ever ;)

actually I did run out at Ascutney once...but it was probably because I filled up before the previous race, raced all weekend, drove home...and then tried to do another event on the same tank  econo racin'
