On July 14, 2016, the Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation hosted a recreation workshop as part of the long-range management plan development for Mt. Philo State Park. The workshop included facilitated, small group discussions on a variety of recreation topics related to Mt. Philo State Park. Workshop participants shared ideas and input with others interested in the management of the state park. These ideas were documented and are now posted on the department website. See link below. We’d like to thank everyone for their participation.
Additional comments are being accepted until August 1, 2016. Send comments via email to lisa.thornton@vermont.gov or via mail to Lisa Thornton, VT Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation, 271 North Main Street, Suite 215, Rutland, Vermont 05701.

Comments related to the hillclimb:
Don’t understand why road rally is allowed – damages resources and not in the spirt of the park.
Road race- long past due to stop- not an appropriate use especially on that fall weekend.
Like the car race. Do think it should be moved to early summer.
The bulk of the comments are related to dog waste, limited parking, and trail management. There were only two negative comments related to our use of the park and one very positive comment (because I really, really, really like the idea about having an event when it is warm!).

So this future meeting already has minutes? They should sell that. It would be a great time saver.

They edited the original message to show June instead of July.
