93 240sx build

Post by nopantsdougie »

Well let me first introduce myself My names Ryan (alot of my car friends call me dougie) Jesse Whitsell brough me to burke last year as a co driver and that got me hooked to wanting some sort of race car. So with a little trading i got a 100% stock 1993 240sx coupe

the car was not running automatic car but it was all there with 150k and the rust it had seemed easy enough to deal with it quickly became a shelf

after a few months i kicked myself, so i cleaned everything cleaned up and went to town.

stripped the car down and cut out the radiator support as it was a little crusty on the bottom.

had some rust on the upper strut tower so i removed the lapped panel cleaned it out and made a new panel

Welcome!
What are you plans for the car? I'm guessing caged being that stripped.
Translating road racing to hillclimbing:
Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.

Well this car is going to be primarilly for track nights at thompson and palmer with it also doing as many hill climbs as i can swing, i need to get a trailer and truck in order to transport any farther than an hour or so. I also want to do some open drift events just for fun. car will be caged per min rules of fia (one diagnal, one roof cross and one rear diagnal) with an x and sill bar for the doors plus the fia front bar.

i have been stockpiling parts for a while

Engine will be the stock dohc 2.4l but i have a super close ration 6 speed from a 350z.
suspension brakes and saftey are my main concerns. i will leave power alone untill i am more comfortable and confident.

i started to fab up some things for reliability and ease of use. also i was building a big turbo mk4 gti before and had alot of an lines and parts laying around from that.

i want the car to be under 2600lbs with about 150hp and short gearing it should move plenty

What is this "stock 240sx" you speak of? I've never heard of that.

Looks great, though! The more I go back to dealing with stock fuel lines, the more I appreciate how nice AN is to work with.

HUBCAPS AND ALL!

They are so easy when you need to access things

got the rear suspension out last night.
also moved the steering rack forward about 30mm with the shorter tie rod pickups on the knuckles the car can over center and get stuck at full lock. sending the subframes to get blasted and powder coated next week
