The snow has been a bit of a set back. We are eager to get out side and paint the cage. However, we have to make due with what we have. We decided to practice our interview skills in hopes of wooing sponsors, which appears to have worked.

Exciting news everyone! Andrew just received a sponsorship packet in the mail from our good friends at Baumann racing.

We really need to start making space on the race gators for all these sponsor logo's. We also need to work on holding the logo's right side up, as the sponsors find that a crucial skill!

Thank you Sherm and Michele!

That's quite a sponsor package! Is the Gator rated for hyperbolic superlatives? ;)

Hey-I'm all for alternative energy race cars ! Love the pics-glad he enjoyed them.
Translating road racing to hillclimbing:
Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.

I think Gator is a great name for a race car. Sounds like some low slung tough as nails machine that will eat the competition.

I've been a little tardy updating this thread.
Earlier this month we took a little trip south to see our favorite rodent and attend his driving academy. Andrew is below inspecting the fleet of cars. He was slightly disappointed to see fenders.
Image
Like any racer, no matter the ride, any day racin' is a good day.
Image

After a full week down south, it was time to get back to business on the race gator.

Reverse seemed to have some issues, so it was time to break apart the shifter in order to find out the source of our failure.
Image
Image
Some times it is good to have small hands, Andrew displays the source of our torment, a broken shifter mechanism.
Image

We've got reverse working. We've dispensed with the shift lever and got to a direct button shift, works great for leaving J strips on the lawn. Unsure how good it will be for the long term health of the transmission.
The roll cage is currently in the paint process. We went with John Deere Yellow.
Image

With the cage off, and the rear bed off, Andrew decided he likes it that way. He wants to fabricate a wing for the back. So that project will continue a bit.
In the mean time, Andrew decided to pose for a press photo for his upcoming media barrage. Keep an eye on your favorite magazine for further details (cough grm).
Image
Looks like he might need the next size up driving suit.

Stay tuned.

Excited to see that issue of GRM!

If you need more stickers, I have a lot. I keep holding on to them for some reason. The last batch ended up on the field racer.

Push button shifting. This is getting high tech. :D I'd try that but I already used up a whole years quota of shifting when I drove Sherm's car last year at Okemo.
