Winter storage

Post by Chief Geek »

Many people noticed that my car was drooling badly at Ascutney 2. The shaft seal on the water pump has died and I'm replacing the pump before Philo.

Is there anything I should or shouldn't refill the cooling system with before Philo?

After Philo, the car is going to be driven home (about 2 hrs), parked in my garage for invasive upgrades, and not driven again until Spring.

What should I do to the coolant, fuel, and other vital fluids before I put the car away for the winter?

Particulars:
- 100% OEM engine (iron block, aluminum head)
- 145k miles total
- 2000 miles in 2013, including 90 hillclimb runs (so far)

Thanks.
