U and sp classification worksheet prototype

Post by sachilles »

I was a little bored....ok, a lot bored.
So I took the classification worksheet and created a version in excel.
You just put in your displacement, GVW and seats, then check off your modifciations, and it spits out your class.
Anyone care to have a look at it, and test/break it? I can email it to whomever, or perhaps Steve can post it.
It's only 28 kb.
Not perfect mind you, but might make it a lot less confusing for some folks.
I'd love to get some feedback. I'll make it more pretty as the bugs are worked out.

Seth. Send me a copy and I will post up (and try to break it at the same time). As you know, numbers will change (potentially) based on the results of the annual banquet. If you know VBA, I can send you the old sheet that Brad Martin put together.

No worries if things change at the rules meeting. It's easy enough to change or add things.
Only thing that took any time was the logic interpreting what class somebody falls into, and that was a good learning experience.
No worries if folks don't care for it.

Got it. I'll take a look at it tonight. We can discuss here (forums) and at the meeting on Tuesday if needed.

looks like when it gets converted on google docs, it loses the check boxes. Without the checkboxes the spreadsheet is worthless. Oh well.

let's try this again

edit: one last try with google

seems like this one works. should bring you to a screen where you can download it. It will only work if you have excel or compatible program.

You don't need checkboxes.... just put a formula that tests for any character in the cell; if true (like the checkbox) then calculate the formula. An array might be the way to go or VlookUp.

Oh, and Dirty Penny Ale is good!

You don't think a check box is more intuitive, as opposed to an open cell?

Oh, I agree it is, but you said you were having issues posting it with the checkbox.
