Not really. There are several brands of driving shoes that are not tagged/labeled - and some that are $2 more with the SFI tag "if you need it". (and the same brands make poseur shoes - makes my head hurt....) We had guys at the meeting that were surprised that their nylon mesh Nikes were already illegal. Then again, I had to rat a guy out backalong when he stopped at my checpoint - nattily attired in a nylon go-kart suit.

From the summary of changes
Technical and Safety Changes
Fire retardant gear (per technical rule 1.BB) is now required when a roll cage is required.

Correct. I have an old pair of leather driving shoes that have been worn to within an inch of their lives, which means they're perfect. I'd hate to give them up so I'd rather nomex socks if it's required.

Right, I thought that was the case but the front matter just referred to the double letter sections as applying only to P cars and I didnt read on to the change in the cage rule that invokes 1.BB.

It's a little wonky. It's only listed in the summary of changes....not in the regs itself like the rest of the rule changes.

It is referencing 1.BB.... the suit requirement for everyone is in E.
E. Collision Protection minimum requirements
1. Roll bar required in all cars without a full steel roof. Roll bar should be
equivalent in construction to cage specs
2. Roll cage and fire retardant gear (per technical rule 1.BB.) required in
all cars with the exception of:
