1981 Rabbit built by Bill Rutan in the 90's
Fully caged to Rutan family standards (Mt. Washington, NEHA, PHA legal)
Custom modified suspension intended to enhance left foot braking/ trail braking
Lowered 2" from stock setting
2 liter diesel block with 8 valve race head roughly 12.6-1 compression (I run 108 leaded fuel)
5 speed GTI transmission (I've been told this has custom gearing)
Race clutch (6 puck?)
Quaife LSD
Custom designed pedestal shifter
No PS or PB (i have a power steering rack that goes with the car)
Misc. spare parts, wheels, etc.
Comes with a 1.8 liter spare motor that I picked up from Steve Jones a number of years ago. No clue what the internals are or what kind of condition they may be in now.
Has Toyo R888's on it that were new for Washington in 2014 mounted on original aluminium VW rims.

In NEHA it is a SP5 and P3 class champion. With the right driver could be a podium finisher at MT. Washington.

It's been garaged on jackstands since shortly after Mt. Washington 2014? Maybe early 2015? I can't remember.
The motor was rebuilt by Bill Rutan himself in 2011 for me to run at Mt. Washington. It currently has +-780 miles on it since rebuild. Keep fresh oil in it and it'll run forever. The car needs some tlc and maintenance, essentially ready to go with a few hours work.
Had serious brake fade last time I ran it so a fluid change is in order. Seems to have a very small oil leak at the pan (spot on the garage floor).
Currently has a passenger side front broken CV joint. The axle is packaged in a box ready to be sent out for repair but never left the garage. Should be a cheap fix.

$2500.00 as it sits. I might even deliver it for you.

I don't want to work on it so $3500.00 if I have to fix the axle

I believe it is a 1.9 liter engine (bored with 83mm pistons) and would be a P&P head with stiffer valve springs. I assume the 2.5" header is still on it.

This is a great Rabbit. Should be quite quick. I did a 2:58 at Asctuney in it a few years back on its old engine... the new engine should have more ummmmpf.
