Have wrench, will travel.

Post by Mopar 151 »

Kind of a rethread, but I'm back on the skids, after building some wack medical automation.
OK - if you don't know, I'm on layoff, and on pittance-level unemployment. So as not to completely lose whatever is left of my mind, and keep the lights on around here, i'm looking for some side jobs - not charity, but if we can help each other out without Uncle Sam being involved...

Stuff I can do:
Engine design and custom cam selection with Engine Analyzer Pro. Precision engine building. Holley race carbs built, also service for BG/Demon.
Distributor machine in-house.
Chassis setup consultation, using Southard School methods and MS Excel "active spreadsheets", portable alignment and scaling.
2 NEHA Championships as a driver, numerous FTD's, Additional championships/wins as a preparer, refrences. also 2nd gen tech inspector in oval track - intimate with the insides of top- running cars since childhood, seen some really clever/sneaky stuff....

Race car wiring and plumbing, with proper engineering and documentation - 40 years auto/motorsports experience, familiar with CE, ISO, SAE, JIC, AN standards and interchanges, industrial experience high-temp equipment, automation.

Specialzed component repair, design, adaptation, integration and upgrade - specialising in American stock car technology. Mopar racer, Chevrolet partsman, "Ford Man" since birth. Machinist with limited shop access (at KDL Mold, at the end of my street - thanks, Dave!), extensive repair & adaptation experience including FAA certified aircraft work.
Also component sourcing, new and used/online, with hands-on knowledge, great connections, and years and thou$andS of my own money in experience. Kevin sez I should start "partsferret.com"

Prices by negotiation, terms barter or equivalent, Uncle none the wiser...

Welding is not my strong suit - I do have welding equipment (MIG and stick), but I limit myself to downhand on steel. I currently have (Kevin's) bender here for 1 1/2" tube, so I may be able to help you out. Currently excavating the shop....... Tell me more about what's on your mind, figuring that I'm a couple - 3 hours away from you.

Can't have too much of that midrange power. I had to shift a couple times at Burke and this may fix that problem.

It's the megaphones that do it, and the magic bullets. Well, that, and following the teachings of Eddy Henneman, the mad prophet of headers.

Ed is a trip, once you get him talking...wow. Don't make any plans for a while! Smart guy. I build all my headers based on his philosophies, especially the collectors.

OK, Acme was a little too screwed up, even for me. Currently studying (Smokey's) tricked-out carb. 8-) Seeking interested manufacturer for a new, innovative header flange system.

Update July 2013

Post by Mopar 151w2 »

Ankle gone, mind close behind. looks like no more full-time shopwork for me. Had 1 surgery, oral surgery in 3 weeks, major fot surgery mid-august - off my feet for +/- 3 mo.
Current projects - Kevin's Tire Rack Mahal restart, Artie Heath's new "Johnny Cash" engine - once the flea market "patina" is scraped off, and we figure out the exotica we got from Rusty's cellar last week, this one will be stout!

Will be looking for more engineering/engine modeling type stuff twoard fall - also seeking venture capital for tool/medical assist device business, possible marketing partner for new concept high-performance part line (alpha prototype set on Kevin's car).
