1997 F250 7.3L powerstroke diesel tow rig

Post by wickedperformance »

I think everyone has seen our truck at the events this year. Nothing wrong with it, we just bought the exact same truck with a manual transmission and can't keep two. We will be using it this weekend for Philo 2015 if anyone wants to check it out. A little ugly but a great rig overall, can tow a house, burn alternative fuel and even comes with a CB radio so you can feel like a real trucker.

Wasn't planning to sell this truck and recently did a bunch of maintenance/upgrades and used it this season to tow a car to Vermont and back once a month. Used as a daily driver for the winter of 2013-14 and occasionally last year, this is a turn-key reliable truck. It has always started up in the winter without use of the plug-in block heater, even after sitting for weeks or months at a time. The engine does not have the typical drips you see on most 7.3s, it starts and runs flawlessly in any weather, the transmission is also leak-free and shifts perfectly, 4Hi and 4Lo work as they should with manual front hubs.

This truck is in excellent mechanical shape and has the following parts replaced:

In the last year and a half:
two new NAPA batteries
new OEM Ford fuel bowl
new OEM fuel pump
new soft fuel lines on the engine
rear brake shoes
General Grabber AT2 tires (load range E, 235/85R16)

This past spring (April 2015) I did a lot of preventative maintenance before using it to tow my race car:

new radiator
new water pump
new radiator hoses and heater hoses
new coolant neck pipes
new Ford coolant
transmission fluid change with new filter and new deep pan
new alternator
polyurethane front leaf spring bushings
polyurethane front shackle bushings
complete steering linkage from the box to the hubs (tie rod, drag link etc)
driver front brake caliper
front brake rotors
front brake pads
all front ball joints and camber sleeves
inspected and re-packed front wheel bearings
NTB alignment

Last week in preparaion for winter:
fuel filter
glow plug relay

Other things:
4" straight exhaust
TS Performance 6-position chip (knob mounted on dash)
Uniden Pro520XL CB radio mounted on cab ceiling
Wilson Little Wil CB antenna
CD player
aftermarket center console/arm rest (new this spring)
rubber bed mat
many extra tie-down shackles in bed, two fire extinguisher mounts
bedliner paint
add-on towing mirrors
trailer hitch with wiring
dual fuel tanks (both work)
trailer brake controller
sliding rear window
transmission oil cooler (aftermarket)
inspected until December

the truck is located in Manchester NH and can be seen just about any time. Please TEXT Jason 4zero1six26one7seven4.

7.3 PS is a great engine. My last ford (2001) had that engine... lots of pull.

While I did like my 500 ft/#/TQ in my 7.3 PS, I am loving my 800 ft/# TQ in my 6.7 PS. AND.... it is a 6-speed.

My 7.3 was chipped/flashed, or something.... plus, air filter, BOV, Banks Exhaust, etc..... loved the Pssstttttt of the BOV when I got off the throttle.
