Howe Mod Heavy

I figured since im going to be putting some work into the Howe Mod I should at least post some of it and get some feedback. Here is my list of things to do this winter.

-Fix holes in exhaust - still needs to be done
-Sand and repaint rust spots - Making Progress
-New Right upper A-arm (Okemo crash) - Done
-Replace oil accumulator (Philo crash) - Done
-New brakes, at least in the front - Done
-Check valve lash - Needs to be done, if I could just find that piece of paper..........
-Remove oil pan and check oil pump
-Rewire trailer winch
-Straighten/modify bodywork (downforce?) - Its straighter......ish
-Mount new tires on rims - Done
-Replace rear axle seals - Wasnt the axle seals leaking
-Check weight distribution
-Change Oil - On the list still
-Open Diff rear end (still on the fence on this one) - Have Diff, will install
-Sway bar (maybe) - Maybe next year.......
-Send redundant ignition box to Crane for repair - Still trying to figure out if they still have a repair service

I still have to finish closing in my shop so that it will hold heat before I can get too far into this list. It may take me a while... - Mostly done, just one sliding door to make

I expected unlocking the diff would be one of the top priorities. If nothing else, any type of limited slip diff must make the car easier to drive.

I would love an LSD but unfortunately that's not in the budget this year, I may borrow an open diff to try from John Reed, but that would mean a gearing change as well. We'll see I do like some of the characteristics of the spool, just not the propensity to throw me into the woods. The spool was a major factor in both of my crashes this year.

What do you need for a diff? What is ideal? May have a cheap to free source for you, but this is Greek to me, so spell it out using small words.

Its a ford 9 inch. An open diff is acceptable, limited slip is really good. Still not sure if I want a Detroit locker or not.

I was guessing the spool wasn't helping. Reducing the odds of being chucked into the woods sounds pretty compelling. Maybe Angela is still shopping for your xmas gifts. ;)

Hopefully, someone with practical knowledge will chime in here, but wouldn't a spool make the car's turn-in feel slower? (lower the yaw acceleration?) Would the desire for a steering quickener change when a diff was added?

Taking out the spool will definitely help with turn in as I won't have "locker push" anymore, but the steering ratio could also be faster. My new challenger has a quicker ratio right now.

Which pinion does the steering rack have installed now? Should be able to change ratios.....
