Sunroof removal
Sunroof removal
What are the safety requirements regarding the removal of a metal sunroof? What needs to be put in its place?

Re: Sunroof removal
Haha, I guess I should have been more specific. If I cut out the whole assembly and remove the sunroof tray from the underside of the roof skin will I be fine if I just pop-rivet some aluminum in the opening in the roof? I just don't want to go cutting the whole thing out and then find that sunroof cars utilized the sunroof tray as part of the roof structure and that its absence means my car no longer passes a safety inspection.walterclark wrote:uh, metal.

Re: Sunroof removal
Talk to Don Taylor about what he would accept at tech as safe. I doubt there is a need for added structure once the original sunroof structure is gone, but the added roof skin should be secure enough so it doesnt immediately peel back in a rollover.
The older I get the better I was.

Is he on the forum or is there another good way to get in touch with him?walterclark wrote:Talk to Don Taylor about what he would accept at tech as safe.
