Heard about Thompson Speedway working on plan to re-open the old road course last summer. Happened across this today.

Thompson CT Speedway
Re: Thompson CT Speedway
Hey Brian,
Thanks for the post. I attended several events, as a spectator, back in the 60s when I was in graduate school in nearby Worcester, MA. It was a great spectator track, not much on amenities, but able to view most of track from one location.

Re: Thompson CT Speedway
I grew up there. I can remember back to the version of the track before this one (there were 3). I even corner worked there at like 11 years old*.
Something seems different about the current drawing. I seem to remember that you went around the hairpin at the end of the long straight-and then it was pretty much a straight shot back to the the circle track. In the pic you now take a left behind the grandstand-another hairpin-then left before going to the circle track. Pehaps this was just showing the paving job-and thats just the pits?
* It was a mid week track day-they were short handed-and I ended flagging in safety from the bridge.

Translating road racing to hillclimbing:
Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.
