DOM versus CDS for rollcages

DOM versus CDS for rollcages
Any advantages? FIA requires CDS but most American groups accept DOM as a substitute. Anything special regarding welding and machining CDS that's different from DOM?

The differences are mainly technical (how it is produced) and relatively minor (similar strengths and weld-ability). The primary difference has been one of availability. CDS used to be commonly available everywhere but the US where DOM has been widely available in the US and not so much elsewhere. I think CDS is becoming more widely available here.
The older I get the better I was.

So no real reason to go out of my way to use CDS then.

Not in my opinion.
Even CARS (http://www.carsrally.ca/index.php?optio ... 24&lang=en) permits DOM and CDS.

No se habla' CDS - don't recognize the nomenclature, what alloy#? Cold Drawn Seamless, maybe? Is this the same as Reynolds tubing (chrome manganese?) O.D. Skived Seamless (Penske South buys whole mill runs to get it, i.e. not commercially available), SAE 1026 alloy?

1020-1026 meet the alloy and tensile strength requirements.
