Philo Hillclimb (2013)
Re: Philo Hillclimb (2013)
We've had better-and we've had worse-but I would say an average overnite low for Philo is about 28 degrees. If it rains (which is about an 85% probability ) it will be warmer.

What makes for the challenge, is that you'll be sitting at a check point most of the day, being chilly. Then sleeping in the cold.

Why isn't Philo run earlier in the season?
Re: Philo Hillclimb (2013)
Its a very popular place for hiking. We can't get on it till after the park is offical closed for the season- Columbus day.

Rain is pretty likely, based on the current forecast. It says the nighttime low will be 38F, but I'm betting it's colder on the mountain?:

Re: Philo Hillclimb (2013)
It's not much of a mountain, so the altitude isn't a concern. The forecast will be right on for temps, but you will find you are the shade side of the hill until noon. It's on the lake side which stays pretty warm compared to the rest of Vermont.
Don't read too much into the precipitation forecast until closer to the event, this far out things often change. However, I can't remember very many philo weekends that were completely dry.

As my mother (who lives 15 miles from Burke) calls Philo --the "Banana coast".
Oh -did we mention it gets windy there? I mean really windy. Like a Port-a-potty blew over windy.

It's been windy, we have seen rain, cold, snow. And we have even seen sun. Heck it's even benn 75 degrees before. The one thing you can count on is cool nights and the days will be..... It's Vermont we will have to wait and see what it is cause we could get all of the above in the same day.
