I rec'd a text message from Nick Cota that Bill Clark passed away last night.

It has been a while since he has raced with us. Last time was in a small gray Yugo, #59.

Bill was also the owner of Clark's Sunoco in Williston, VT.

He was a great supporter of the Sports Car Club of Vermont, Bolton Valley Hillclimb, and the Mt. Philo Hillclimb along with a competitor at all the NEHA events.

Sorry to hear about Bill. He was always fun to be around.

Sorry to hear that. Always thought it was great that someone raced a Yugo. Last time he raced with us was at Philo in 2000. He won his class (P4) in the Yugo beating a couple of Rabbits. Went out on top!

Bill was a great competitor and benefactor to the Hill Climb series. R.I.P. Bill.

WILLIAM J. CLARK - SUMMERFIELD, Fla. - William J. "Bill" Clark, formerly of Williston, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, as a result of a stroke. Born July 7, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pa., Mr. Clark graduated from Father Judge Catholic High School in Philadelphia, in 1959. After dabbling as a hair stylist, Bill had a career in the automotive service industry, owning a Sunoco station in the 1960's, and working for Cadillac, Oldsmobile, and Chevrolet dealerships in Philly. He and his family relocated from Doylestown, Pa., to Williston in 1982. The Clarks built a log home near Lake Iroquois, where they lived for several years, and purchased a service station business. Clark's Williston Exit Sunoco opened in 1985, serving Williston during rapid growth through the 1990's. Bill and MaryAnn retired from the business in 2009, and relocated to Summerfield, Fla., spending summers in Vermont at their cottage on Lake Hortonia. They moved full-time to Summerfield in 2012. Bill enjoyed building model trains, classic Chevrolet cars, racing Yugos and Fiats, the sights, adventures, and history of Alaska, and his loving family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn (Froman) of Summerfield, Fla.; son, Edward of Rutland, his wife, Katrina, and children, Liam and Cameron; daughter, Elizabeth Lemeiux of Williston, and children, Andrew and Eliza; son, Thomas of Seattle, Wash., his wife, Allison, and children, Madeleine and Chancey; brother, Brian, of The Villages, Fla.; and two nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Helen of Philadelphia; and an infant grandson, Baxter of Rutland. Bill was a private kind of guy, and requested that no services be held. His ashes will be scattered in Alaska by his family at a private ceremony at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of William Clark, to First Candle, 2105 Laurel Bush Rd., Suite 201, Bel Air, MD 21015, a nonprofit organization dedicated to safe pregnancies and the survival of babies through the first years of life.
