nice video. I think you need a better camera mount though. I see you also have those fly-by's on youtube from the long straight. Do you have one of me going by there??

Ditto what Joey said... I would love to incorporate track-side videos into my in-car video. It would make for a more exciting video (like what you put together). I like the out of the front, out the back, view of the driver, track-side... great idea!

I was driving the green VW Golf with the American flag on the roof.

That reminds me.... I forgot that I was taking video at the start line for group B. I put my camera on the ground underneath the back of the car and left it there until the car cleared the first corner. I haven't watched the videos yet to see how it came out. My in-video actually came out pretty good. No sense of speed on the hill. Time to relocate to another place lower to the ground or on the roof.

I did a couple of incars from the top of my cage. (only place i could reach strapped in.) Looked slower from up there with no part of the car visible.) Its up on youtube now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DKbmVh5bHE
Translating road racing to hillclimbing:
Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.

Deshaking video

Post by Kiwi »

Hi all,

a solid camera mount is essential to helping make smooth video. But sometimes you don't have one. My Mount Washington hillclimb footage was really jumpy, though mostly in the vertical plane. I found a fantastic (and free) software that will "deshake" your video for you. It takes some experimentation with different settings, but it can make a world of difference. For video that you really want to keep, it is worth trying. You can see the results in the Mt. Washington video on my website http://melhuish.org/ though I don't have a "before" video posted.

The deshaker guide is here:

my camera mount is EXTREMELY solid. I think it is too solid, and combined with a heavy camera, I am getting resonance.

I ordered a go pro motorsport camera today

this is my current camera mount
