Mt Washington Hillclimb, 1904.

Post by agrabau »

A few months ago I went to the Henry Ford Museum with Meghan, my wife and her Aunt and Uncle. They live in MI. The museum is incredible. It's not just cars. There were a lot of bicycles there too.. A huge steam locomotive that was about 50ft long and then some early race cars, all types of race cars. I took these two photos while we were there..

Looks considerably more difficult to ascend back then.

I have in-car video of the 1904 run up the hill. Full 1080i digital.

I remember looking at a lot of historical stuff when looking into the hillclimb many years ago when I was working the hill, and then later hping to drive it. A lot of rich history.

John Marsha looks young in that picture.
Translating road racing to hillclimbing:
Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.
