Re: New to HC
Hi Barry, and welcome! Are you coming as a driver, worker/volunteer, or just checking things out? If you want to race, it would be best to get there Friday afternoon/early evening so that your car can go through tech. There is a tech inspection on Saturday AM, but the more cars that get through tech on Friday, make it easier to get an earlier start on Saturday. Minimum requirements are a helmet (SA 2010 or newer), and an ABC fire extinguisher with metal bracket mounted within reach of the driver's seat.
If you're coming to volunteer/work as a corner worker: THANK YOU! Again getting there Friday makes for an easier Saturday AM. The worker meeting can be as early as 7:15-7:30. So driving from MA to get there by 7:00 is an early day. There is camping on site. Not sure what's available, but I'm sure room can be found.
Others will likely chime in with other words if wisdom. But if not, post any questions and someone will likely chime in.

Yes, you need a handheld. It is clearly stated in the rules.BPR wrote:I'm coming to drive , my car has a fire system do I still need a hand held ,is there a mandatory meeting on Friday for novices ?
The older I get the better I was.

You don't have to be nasty there's plenty other races I could attend this weekendwalterclark wrote:Yes, you need a handheld. It is clearly stated in the rules.BPR wrote:I'm coming to drive , my car has a fire system do I still need a hand held ,is there a mandatory meeting on Friday for novices ?

I don't think he's being "nasty." Walter is one of the tech inspectors and would rather not disappoint someone at tech inspection after driving such a long way for something that could easily be avoided by taking a quick glance at the rules.

Re: New to HC
As you look for a campsite, try to get in on the left-side (near the lean-to's), since that is where all the staging/meetings/inspection happen. Until you're acclimated to the general pace of these events, it's good to be in the middle of it all. It's easy to miss important queue's on the right-hand side.
If you do end up on the right-hand side, stop by site 12 and say hi. We'll be happy to explain whatever I can, as I'm sure anyone else would.

If you haven't already, read through all the rules:

It may answer many of the questions you (will) have.
What kind of car are you running?

Glad you were able to make the event (very nice car); sorry to see you sidelined for a transmission issue.
