cage question

would this qualify as a 6 point cage for our rules? I would think there needs to be another hoop and roof bars to be ok?

Not enough... far from enough.

All Roll cages must have horizontal and vertical bars above, ahead,
behind, and to the sides of the plane of the drivers’ helmet.

I think what you have pictured is referred to as a drag cage (for drag racing). It would need a lot of welding (where it was cut) & sleeves, base plates, gussets, along with the extra bars to complete the front part of it. Walk away.

Yes, run (don't walk) away from that "thing".
For starters, if you don't have a SEMA tag, or an FIA #, you better have a material cert for "cromoly", and It better say that it's SAE 4130, condition "n". We're NOT good with "mystery metal" stuck together with buzzard crap.
Second, the price sucks pond water. No diagonal bracing, no gussets or foot plates.
Steve's suggestion of a used Autopower is good - at least you are starting with real tubing!

Best bet would be to drag your car up to Essex Jct., VT and have me toss a cage in there for you. I could have it done in a matter of days and the strength/quality will far exceed Autopower for the cost.

Basically, Joey is correct. Simply put, the design constraints put on the Autopower style cage seriously limit its capabilities - or, ya got ta make it too damm small to fit a stock interior without cutting, and it needs to be tied to the unibody in a bunch more places. You need to consider other racing classes the car might run in, like IT (limited # of tie-ins) or rally (FiA style/spec), to figure out what's right for you.
