Adding a pound doesn't seem like a big deal. Probably just gets us back to what they always weighed with the old big 6 volt battery.
The old 6V batteries weigh 21 oz. each and the 6-AA that replace each of them weight 4.8 oz a set. So you are correct Kevin.

And a typical 12oz bottle of beer weighs 20-22oz...

I also have a 5gal bucket full of old lead wheel weights...

Walter, how about I give you my wheel weights and in return I get Kevin's lead... As long as it will bolt right on to the troyer...

Kevins offer works best for me (cutting rather than re-casting). Besides, I will bet Kevin would be happy to have this thing rendered unusable on his car...

Yea, coarse (wood) blade in my P-C saber saw set at low speed and max orbital motion using mineral oil to keep it cool and lubed worked pretty well last time. Any other suggestions?

If you achieved "worked pretty well", you're 2 steps up on me. :D

I have removed the steel tube shell from the Troyer ballast Kevin gave me and used my saber saw to cut a 1 pound chunk from an end to test the cut. Worked real well. I am using a hollow grind blade for wood with 8 teeth/inch, a real slow speed, max orbital motion and mineral oil lube. The trick is to not push and to lift the blade out any time it starts to bog - indicating the blade is getting hot and the lead is softening and will start to smear. Took me about 2 minutes to cut a 1/2" thick piece measuring 2"x3" from the bar.

Good I'll stop worrying about someone bolting it onto my car.
