IRS for project
I am working on the planning of my next project. Currently looking for Independent Rear suspension ideas. I want off the shelf parts and it needs to have it's own sub-frame. IE. the whole thing unbolts as a unit from the car. LSD readily available. It also needs to be able to handle up to 400hp. So far the best I have come up with is Eagle Talon rear. Any other thoughts out there?

Only other cars that I can think of that MIGHT fit the bill are 2000 and 2001 subaru 2.5rs, and 02 wrx and newer. Also the Audi A4. I'm not sure if the TT had lsd
I would think of the subie and audi, the audi diff would be the strongest, as it is a mechanical setup.
The audi setup is aluminum, and there are aftermarket arms available with a good range of adjustment.
Another thought is either miata or honda s2000.

What about Nissan 240 and the like? Dodge Colt? Mustang (looking for something smaller than big American iron?)

I'm pretty sure other than a few mustang cobra's they(mustangs) don't have independent rear suspension.
I think some of the t-bird turbo coupe and merkur xr4ti had independent rears with lsd options....but I think they are heavier than a mack truck.
I would also think there have to be some BMW parts out there that might work.

Can I assume this is for a RWD car? If so I am not sure about the Audi A4/TT rear handling 400HP. Maybe the S4 version...
The older I get the better I was.

I am looking for something lighter than domestic breeds but would settle if something came along for the right price(like super el'cheap o). The Nissan 240 does not have a lot of avalibility and only select models w/ LSD.

What do the modern vette's use? I would think they might be fairly light, and common enough to not break the bank.
I would also think something from a bmw m3 or m5 might do the trick.
What about the rear end from a Dodge Magnum or charger?(I don't know if lsd was an option)
The lexus IS series was rear drive as well
On the upside, whatever you choose, it will be easier to find a wrecked car with an intact rear end.

Honda CRV? Unsure how much HP it can take.... I think it is IRS.

The CRVs that I've seen and driven are all completely gutless so I doubt the drivetrain is built to take much power.
The Toyota RAV4 I'm driving however comes from the factory with 279hp so it might take a bit more. That would be a V6 2006 or newer model.
