Subject: New racing class for 2009 Mt Ascutney Hillclimb!
We’ve added a new class for the 2009 Spring Mt Ascutney Hillclimb! No, it's not 2wd vs 4wd, or drifting or motorcycles. It's downhill racing! The best part, no safety equipment is needed and the rules can be covered in 5 lines:
1 - Chassis/body must be an automotive valve cover
2 - 10 lb maximum for entire vehicle
3 - no engines, motors or propulsion devices
4 - max width 15", max length 30"
5 - no steering device
Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 finishers, based on best times and/or distance traveled, plus 1 trophy for Best Of Show. All ages are welcome and encouraged to enter this competition.
The course will likely be near the start line or heading down to the dumpsters in the camping area. Off-road excursions, collisions or roll-overs are quite possible. Construct your racers appropriately. The Best Of Show competition will be held BEFORE the racing begins.
There are clubs out there that do serious valve cover racing, we are not trying to be one of them. Have fun with this.
Dave

Re: Ascutney 2009
I was starting to fill out the entry for this years event and had a question. My son and I will be driving and my wife will be working (wherever needed). On the entry it want's to know how many lunches are required "for drivers" are workers included in the lunch? Is it just another $5 for workers lunch? Thanks, Jim

Re: Ascutney 2009
Workers eat free. Drivers have to pay.
Translating road racing to hillclimbing:
Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.

Um, today is May 1st.... Ascutney is the 16th.... I didn't realize how close it was. Time to get to work (faster). I think I just need an oil change, fuel filter, add coolant, cover the + terminal to make Rick Young happy, and.... I think that's it.

I changed the springs tonight (went softer) so now I have to set ride heights, camber and toe. don't know when I will get to that!
