Red = Brake
Yellow = Shift
Green = WOT

Not quite telemetry, but better than nothing. Tells me a lot after-the-fact, like the lifting and early braking that arent needed but I do instinctively when I am coming up on a turn. Also if I am shifting too early or holding it too long - like second gear approaching turn 1 in this case, where you can hear it hit the 7250 fuel cutoff twice before I lift.

I also have data logs I can compare to the video. Here is a screen capture of the start line to turn 1 data for this run.



AFR, RPM, Oil P, Coolant T, EGT, fuel enrichment drive voltage - all raw and unfiltered so some of the spikes arent real.

Got me to think that it might be cool to have similar box with:
LED Bar graph for rpm.
LED bar graph for throttle position.
Led for brake pressure.
Just so you can see it on the camera.

There are plenty of tutorials for the RPM graph on the web. Not much on throttle position and/or brake pressure.

Curious how you made it, if you are willing to share.

You can get video overlay systems that goes all of that for you.... kinda like what you (Seth) used to have, but it has everything in it (OBDI or OBDII interface). I tried to put a tach in the camera view with no luck in the past (either camera couldn't see the tach as it was too small, or if it was close enough, it would focus on the tach when the needle moved)

Very simple. Shift is off the same circuit I made to drive the shift light on the instrument group - an LM2917N based circuit. Brake is off the brake light switch. WOT is off the switch on the throttle body and also enables my fuel enrichment control. All are just medium intensity LEDs with suitable resistors to limit current. This car is pre ODB-anything so there is nothing useful coming out of the engine control units. I have to use existing or add switches and sensors to do what I need from a monitoring stand point.

The data logging is done with an Innovate LM-1 wideband O2 analyzer. It has an option to capture RPM, AFR and 5 0-5V analog signals which I have connected to sensors, some of which I added. It also has 2 programmable 0-5V analog outputs that you can set to produce a linear voltage representation of the AFR/Lambda. I use one to simulate an narrow band O2 sensor for the ECU so I can use the wideband sensor in place of the original narrow band. I use the second output to drive the ECUs's engine coolant temp input at WOT. This input was intended to richen up the fuel when the engine is cold but in this case it is responsive and works at any time. I set that analog output to drive the Lambda (AFR) to .87-.9 under WOT.

You can, it's just a lot more $$$. I like Walter's setup as it's guaranteed to be in sync with the video.
