philo 2011

Is the date for next years Philo correct? If so it looks to fall on a Sunday Monday Tuesday? :? OCT 14th to the 16th?

What year calendar are you looking at? 2007, 2012, 2018 or later?

Sorry. I guess the calender I was posting the dates on didn't update right so the year was saying 2011 but it wasn't actually the right days lol. Anyways. I got it. Philo in July? I must be missing something.

At one of our sccv meetings folks had asked if we might be able to schedule Philo at time when it might not be cold, rainy and miserable. However, the park schedule doesn't really allow for a move. Philo is one of the busier parks, so shutting down for a hillclimb during their prime season isn't much of an option.

We seem to do two hillclimbs at all the other NEHA hills. How about running a winter Philo, snow tires with or without studs.

OK, we're really gonna have to pull out the stops to look after the workers. I'm talking heated tents at the checks, soup kitchen, hot apple cider, propane heaters, party in Butch's trailer, huge bonfire...

Extra credit for two wheel drive. Charlie, Butch, Bill: you game?

Bikes are in - we ride every Sunday with studded tires in the Winter - some of the best riding of the year! :D

(You're not sure if I'm kidding either!)

Actually - bikes with studs hook up on ice almost as good (sometimes better) than dry pavement. 8-)

Plan on some driver workers since I bet the pool of people willing to sit in the snow all day will be small. :)
