Roll bars
I understand. Just wanted to be clear for you and other readers that a rollbar does not meet the cage requirement for breakout, but for a convertible, it does meet our expectation that every car provides the driver some real rollover protection.
The older I get the better I was.
Re: Roll bars
I must have read too quickly the first time I read it, I called moss to find the tubing thickness. Waiting on a call back with the info.walterclark wrote: It is a fine looking bar. No mention is made of tubing thickness that I see... But it is not a cage so you would still be restricted by the breakout rule. Still, with a convertible you need either a roll bar or a bolt-on hard top to run at all.
I didn't realize a had top could do the trick too, may have to see if there are any local.
And Phil, its going to take alot more than roll over protection to get it going. Semester ends is a couple weeks, I hope I can get enough time to get this done.
Re: Roll bars
So I found the maker of the bar because Moss didn't understand what I was asking:
Single hoop double diagonal
1-3/4X1/8
3/16 "flat parts"
Grade 8 hardwear
I can't open the regulation section at work (idk why) but off the top of my head it sounds good.
Honda#72- I am going to use the factory 3 point sys, do you recomend any restraints over others?
Thanks again for the help!

Re: Roll bars
Yes, those are all good. The arm restraints are required in your car but I dont have to use them so someone else should suggest exact models they like.b5s4mike wrote:So I found the maker of the bar because Moss didn't understand what I was asking:

Re: Roll bars
One more stupid question, what is the rule on windshields? I looked through the book again and didn't see any mention. Is it allowed to run a "race" windshield on a convertable with a bar and arm restraints? I know the sunbeam runs sans-windsheld but he also runs a cage.

Re: Roll bars
From section 1.d.
D. Eye Protection
1. DOT-approved windshield or
2. Suitable goggles (in good condition) or
3. Face shield (shatterproof polycarbonate (Lexan) required).
4. Polycarbonate (Lexan) may be used where permitted as an alternate
windshield or window. Acrylic (Plexiglass) is not acceptable.
So I would assume that windshield would be fine provided you had appropriate goggles or face shield.

Re: Roll bars
I use G Force part # 4087 arm restrints. They were around $35.00. Like I said you can clip them together and run the three point through them. And you can use them later on when you get harnesses, they don't expire.b5s4mike wrote:
