The key is the sliding tether. the difference between the standard post and the quick disconnect is mostly one of familiarization. The standard post and tether clip together too, but you have to get the clip aligned to the post correctly before it can be pushed down allowing it to slide and release or connect...really pretty straight forward once you figure out where this alignment occurs so you can do it blind. Probably the hardest part for me is putting the Hans around my nect in the car, and that is the same regardless of which tether and post you use.honda#72 wrote:So with sliding tethers and fixed post I would have reasonable vision and be able to put my helmet on inside the car? As I wrote above, both widths are still in multiple current FIA documents related to Hans. I think there would have been a big deal made of it if the 3" belt were no longer permitted - remember 3" was the ONLY FIA approved belt available until a year or two after the FIA approved the Hans, so it would have to have been specifically disallowed and I am not aware of such a change.
