Just to confirm what John said: "The Spring Ascutney will be run with wire."

I will be bringing and we will be using the start timing light then, right?
The older I get the better I was.

Last Sunday we had all the checkpoints staffed -

Start - Diane
Check 1 - Ranger Mark
Check 2 - John Marsha
Check 3 - Derek (Anthony's friend)
Check 4 - Sam
Check 5 - Morgan (Sam's friend)
Check 6 - Everett (Anthony's friend)
Check 7 - me
Finish - Anthony

The intent, even with a successful test of the wireless system, was to run the wire and have both systems operational at the Spring event. We did learn a lot from the test and as Anthony said, we had to use one of the older radio sets. I'm not sure when the last test like this was done, but we have relatively new marine 12v batteries now. We also have the ability to charge them at the hill if they need a refreshing overnight.

Basically we proved we can hit all the checkpoints with the 30w radios provided we make proper use of the antennas by placing them on top of vehicles. A portable mast was used at Check 5 which worked fine. We may look at getting one for finish too. Covering the top section of the hill with more radios should not be a problem once we work out the bugs.

We still have the simplex/duplex issue, but are working on a possible solution.
