I'm interested in volunteering to work at events - hoping to compete eventually, but I figured this would be a good way to figure out how everything works. Who should I contact?

You just need to show up at the workers meeting on the day of the event.

Any idea about how far in advance details are usually posted?

Within a week from today, I think. We finally got through to the state of vermont to finalize the event. They had issues with the flooding in that neck of the woods.
