The rulebook said- "valid sticker"
How old can my helmet be? The sticker says SA1979
Just kidding-
It's a 2005- it's still okay right?

2009 Technical states:
Steve
(did they have SA in 1979?)
Your 1979 helmet is valid with a $1.75M check payable to the hosting club. The SA2005 is valid with your normal entry fee.C. Helmet
1. a. Snell SA2000 or newer, or b. FIA legal
2. Full-face helmets are recommended.
3. All helmets must be in good condition.
4. Recommended that helmets carry a sticker or label with medical
information (blood type, any allergy, etc.).

Re: Helmet age
Good to know. I just replaced my harnesses this season also which made me think of it.
Re: Helmet age
Will my inkjet printer produce valid stickers or do I need a special ink cartridge?
Re: Helmet age
I have a full face M-2000 helmet that's like brand new.
Are M-series helmets not allowed in this Hillclimb series?
I don't think I'll have the cash for a new SA series helmet + entry fees in time for Okemo in July.
I was also hoping to avoid purchase of a new SA helmet until the new SA-2010 items come out in Oct./Nov. of this year.
IF I must, I must, but I may have to shoot for a later event this year.

That is correct.

Re: Helmet age
I can get you a open faced SA rated helmet. I can even bring it to you at Okemo if you want. save you on shipping. It would be $150.00. Its a Pyrotect by the way. LMK if I can help!skimobile wrote:I have a full face M-2000 helmet that's like brand new.

Re: Helmet age
The general rule is current and one back so officially when SA2010 becomes available (meaning helmets with SA2010 stickers are on the market) only SA2010 and SA2005 are valid.sciroccohp wrote:so how much longer is a SA 2000 helmet going to be valid anyways? do I need a new one next year if a SA 2010 is coming out later this year?
This is from the Snell web site:
"Certification testing to SA2010 will begin as soon as the SA2010 standard is finalized. The draft SA2010 standard is posted on the Snell web site. Helmets certified to SA2010 should not be on the market before October 1, 2010."
So that means SA2000 are going to be valid next season but not 2011 forward.
The older I get the better I was.

Re: Helmet age
that is what I was afraid of. I will just have to get in as many events as possible so the capitol expendeture of the helmet can be fully depreciated over the time frame of useablility yeah that sounds good
