Hi all,
I just got the Corvette described here: https://sites.google.com/site/1990hayslipcorvette/home
The engine is back to a stock 350 ci but everything else is the same.
I read the regulations and I think that the car could be eligible to run in SP2. Do you see anything that would be a show stopper?

With just the roll bar (not full cage) you would be subject to the breakout rule.

Looks good-i think that will make a great hillclimb car.
Only thing I see that may be an issue (once you start hitting the breakout time) "Autopower 4 point roll bar - bolted to frame".
Walter can get more descriptive on what would be needed to upgrade.
Also an ABC handheld fire extigusher with a metal braket.

Translating road racing to hillclimbing:
Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.

You kidding me? Thats a great car for it-cheap-and not your ride home! And it looks to be very well sorted.
You won't be alone with a Chevy V-8 in SP. We have a couple of late 70's Camaros that run with us regularly.

Pretty much anywhere it is secure except in the drivers footwell. Under the front of the passenger seat is popular. So is hose clamping the bracket to the cage. From what I saw it looks good for SP2. To be considered a cage by NEHA and assuming the existing 4 point is at least 1.50" .120 or 1.75" .090 mild steel at a minimum it will need to add a "halo" and A pillar bars to make it a "6 point" plus at least 1 side bar. More is better. Of course you wont NEED that right away, but once you get hooked and your speeds increase you will want it to continue drive faster.

Make sure your belts are in date! Cover the battery + terminal - an asprin bottle works , or the speed shop has nice ones cheap.Some older 'Vette's run the battery cable and the fuel line through the frame - we DO NOT allow either one to run through structure. We are a little persnickety about extinguisher brackets, too, especially for the 5# ones - you may have to modify one a bit (add another band clamp) to keep the boys in Tech happy. Does that Halon have any type A (combustibles) rating? A lot of extinguishers are only rated BC (liquid fuel, electrical), but we require an ABC rating (1A10BC) - because we run in the woods, and we care more for the woods than your car .
