Camping

Post by Challenger392 »

Hopefully im not to late in asking this but, Ive been planning to come to Ascutney II to help as a volunteer and hadnt thought much about how many camp sites there were. After looking at the site map it appears kind of limited and im hoping there will be space for my wife and I. How do you guys usually deal with the camping arrangements? We will only be bringing a dome tent and a car so we wont take up too much space. Should I contact the State Park to make a reservation? Or does the NEHA reserve it for the weekend and do the coordination internally?

Call the Park for a reservation. We generally fill most of the south side, but there are always spots open on the north side. 8-) Be aware, though, that you have to pay for Sunday night :( 'cus you'll still be in the park at check-out time. All part of staying in the good graces of the folks who grant our ($1500!) "special use permits".

John,

That has changed. For the last couple of years, I've been able to reserve my spot in the campground for two nights although, I make my reservation with the Depart. of Forrest Parks directly.

Ditto, I've reserved for fri and sat, only. $38 total for the weekend, in state rate.

If they are sold out, you can throw your tent in my campsite, I should have room.

Had to book it by calling the park directly, they made me book for all three days, I guess that's what I get for waiting until now to figure it out.
