KSCC END OF YEAR AWARDS BANQUET / MEETING

Post by kindabratty328 »

Annual KSCC Awards Dinner/End of year meeting

(NOT to be confused with the NEHA end of year event which will be held in February)

To be held on Saturday, December 1st at 6 p.m. at the VFW in Charlestown, NH

http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en ... CAwQnQIwAA

We’ll be doing a potluck supper so start thinking about what tasty dish you would like to share with your friends. Please drop me an email to let me know that you are planning to attend as well as what you think you’ll be bringing so we don’t end up with ten of the same dish.

And since it’s been so much fun in the past, let’s do another Yankee Swap (don’t go crazy… all gifts should be under $20) If you don’t know what a Yankee Swap is check it out here… http://www.yankeeswap.net/yankee_swap_r ... ficial.PDF

We’ll eat, drink (byob, please) and be merry, then we’ll have our end of year meeting followed by awards. Everyone who is a part of the hillclimb family is welcome to attend, but only KSCC members will be eligible for awards and to vote at the meeting. Questions? Don’t know if you’re a KSCC member? Can't be there but have something you want to make sure we discuss at the meeting? Let me know.

If you need a place to stay, lots of folks have had good luck at the Holiday Inn Express, which is just a few miles away from the VFW.

There is an KSCC END OF YEAR AWARDS BANQUET event on facebook if you want to stay in touch.

Hope to see you all there!!!!

For those interested, just like last year, there is an NER RallyCross the same day. I'll be going to the RallyCross, then heading to the banquet after. It is at the Barker Farm in Proctorsville, VT, about 40 minutes north of the VFW. Here's a link to the info:

Hello.
Sorry for the delay in posting. Here are the lucky recipients of our awards.
Driver of the year: Arlo Cota
Mystery award: Mike Wilson (in a Honda??)
Walt Rowe: Sherman Baumann
Most improved: Rob Smolinski ( the improved was as much for attitude as speed.)
Worker: Don Taylor
Rookie of the year: Samara Coble
Pushrod of promise: Alex Gomes -for his 3rd place in the Daewoo challenge.
As far as I'm concerned, this was the run of the decade. In his 1st ever run up a hill (behind the wheel anyways) -and with the same equipment as everyone else, he beat me-Mike Reggiero-Rob Smolinski-Arlo Cota-Don Taylor-both Rilleys-John Hart+ Kevin Dennis!!
Translating road racing to hillclimbing:
Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.

Congratulations to all the winners. Every one of them deserved it. I really enjoyed talking or/and working with all of them.

I saw a bit of Alex G's run at Philo and it was stellar, beating the driver of the year in equal equipment.

His Philo run was 2nd quickest in every sector.
Sector 1: start to the entry of "the rock", #1 Steve J, #2 Alex G.
Sector 2: through "the rock" corner, #1 Steve J, #2 Alex G
Sector 3: exit of "the rock" to finish, #1 Jamie M, #2 Alex G

The best us "old" people can do is console ourselves with the fact that Alex had the advantage, (a perfectly legal one) of being young enough to believe he's bullet-proof, fire-proof, & crash-proof. I hope Alex gets to race a lot and continues to drive the same way, even after he learns what "old" people know (the Easter Bunny isn't real, the Tooth Fairy is his Mom, and crashing sucks).

Again congrats to all of you. I'm looking forward to the 2013 season already, especially mid-year, when I can join you as a driver.

Paul
"Christina", New #13/#55x, '90 Miata: In progress
"Keiko", Old #13x/#55x, '96 Miata: R.I.P.
Daily Driver: '11 Mazda2 (small cars... some men have nothing to compensate for)

I remember those days! They didn't last that long for me. I crashed my mom's Escort when I was 17. It rolled several times starting with end over end when it hit the stone wall. That was when I started wearing a seat belt and understood I could get hurt. Kelly still remembers when I told her she couldn't be my girlfriend unless she wore a seatbelt.
