Re: Legal or not
It is most definitely a motorcycle helmet, so it looks like I will be buying a new helmet.

Re: Legal or not
As a few of you may know I am planning on running a Prepared car with an open engine so I will need full protective gear and here is what I have selected. These aren't necessarily the exact things I am going to buy. I may change my mind if I find a similar quality item for cheaper (suggestions welcome). But I just wanted to post this to make sure I'm on the right track with safety equipment and that I'm not overlooking something.

Re: Legal or not
Want to save money? Drive slow. The HANS rule only applies to cars that breakout regardless of class.E. Head and Neck Support
1. Starting January 1, 2013, SFI or FIA head and neck restraints are
mandatory for all cars running faster than the breakout time.
BUT..... I would highly, highly recommend the HANS!

Socks, got it. I knew I was forgetting something. And yes I plan on going slow and that will give me some leeway on the Hans device, even though I plan on getting one eventually.

Re: Legal or not
Do you plan to have a roof on your car? If not, I recommend an umbrella in the car. (You'll thank me 1st time you are sitting inline at Okemo. )
Point I'm getting at-you might want to think about a different color-'specially the helmet. There is no shade-and my glossy white helmet gets damn hot-I'm betting flat black could get quite toasty.

Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.

Re: Legal or not
Indeed it does have a roof. And that helmet also comes in white.

Re: Legal or not
If you have a roof then I'd get black. The darth vader look is definitely faster.
Re: Legal or not
Don't forget gloves. And yes, I will say a black helmet and no roof can get quite warm. Okemo, no roof, black helmet and a tendency for me to overheat easy are why I also kept a/c and use a flexible hose to blow air right into my face opening. I have to agree with kevin, the darth vader look is cool though.
