So, maybe half the field at any NEHA Ascutney is faster than these guys and there are probably 50 in-car videos showing that on youtube, but guess who gets an article on Autoweek.com?

"Tuerck blasts through a hill climb course"... Yawn. He must be pulling .2Gs in the turns. I drive my van around them faster than that, and I am trying to not spill my drink.

It must be the tire smoke.

You need a few more face piercings Walter.
Back when I started-and was still racing dirt, I was sideways way more than straight. It was a blast and the corner workers loved it. I was a steady 14th placed car. Then I started noticing the time sheet. I learned to keep it straight and poof! I was in the top 5.
Different discipline-different game-you wanna be quick-or you wanna be awesome? :ugeek:

Proper tire selection== nothing hooks up on moss or wet leaves.
Staying on the racing line==anything paved is considered good.

Old people do piercings differently...Skin cancer excisions is how I roll.

Back when I started to rally my car, after some time at Team O'Neils, I did a number of rallycross events to get more comfortable setting up turns early and being sideways before a turn - in proper rally fashion, but a bit exaggerated for the speeds - where it was safe to make mistakes (cones instead of big rocks, trees and ditches). Not the least bit fast mind you but probably entertaining to watch. But after a year of that I got bored with it. Its one thing to commit early to a left 2 at 20 MPH for the umpteenth time that day in an open field and quite another to do it at 50mph first time thru using notes on an actual stage lined with all sorts of interesting things waiting to take a big piece out of your car.

Drifting as a contact sport! Love the shot about at about the 39 second point with both front wheels in the air.

That is perfect. I'm plagerizing it.
