tire condition

In reading the Technical regulations on tire I read that cuts arent allowed in tires. I probably already know the answer to this question, but I have a set of dirt circle track tires that have a shallow cut in the tread that runs in the direction of rotation for about 10-12 inches. Since the cut is through the tread blocks you can easily see the depth of the cut at virtually all spots, and the cut is visibly shallower than the tread at all points. Would this pass inspection? The reason I ask is that I would like to use these tires as an alternative to the slicks for either wet or damp weather.

Well, I'm the guy who phrased the rule originally - My intent was to cover cuts into the cords, not superficial damage to the tread area.

Got it, that's kinda what I figured. I just wanted to make sure.
